If the total number of votes was 7500, the number of valid votes that the other candidate got, was:

 Hide Ans

Solution:
Option(A) is correct

Number of valid votes = 80% of 7500 = 6000.

Valid votes polled by other candidate = 45% of 6000

$= \left(\dfrac{45}{100}\right)×6000$ = 2700.

total valid votes are 80% not 100%, then the other candidate must have valid votes of 25% not 45%.. it must be 25% of 6000 = 1500..
